Quick Details
Celestún is a port east of the Yucatán and Biosphere Reserve, located in a coastal wetland corridor where you can observe mangroves, dunes, petenes, low jungle, and grasslands that protect natural evolutionary processes. Here the most exotic species of the Yucatecan geography coexist; discover them on a boat ride where you can observe some of the 300 species of birds registered in the area, both forest (woodpeckers, hummingbirds) and water birds (frigates, herons, ducks).
Learn and discover the most outstanding bird of this beautiful ecosystem, the pink flamingo. Get to know its way of life and the reason for its colorful plumage. Continue the boat tour, where you cross a mangrove area and see the lush vegetation that surrounds you while sailing through red waters. Do not believe in the reason for this hue! This can be seen especially from July to September.
We will visit a water eye inside the mangroves, where the water conditions allow you to swim. End your experience on the beach of Celestún, where you can eat (on your own) and bathe on the beach. The view of this paradise is exceptional, it is part of the heritage of the special reserve and has also been officially declared a wildlife refuge since 1979.
