Pompeii can be found in the South of Italy, in the Campania region, 15 miles south of Naples. The city is famously remembered for the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius, which rained down dust and ash all over the city for nearly a whole day, chasing out almost 2,000 residents. The larvae soon buried the city and everyone in it. Mount Vesuvius erupted in AD79, but you can still find the body-shaped spaces in the hardened ash where those people died. Learn more about the history behind thanks to the explanations of a professional guide, and discover the Porta Marina entrance, the Piezza Esedra, or the Porta Anfiteatro, all leading to the ruins of Pompeii.
Naples is the third largest city in Italy and can also be found in the southern part of the country in the Campania region. Three thousand years of history are attached to this chaotic and culturally rich European city. From the Neopolitan churches in Renaissance and Baroque styles to the historic castles, Naples is filled with historical attractions for you. It is also recognized as the home of pizza and espresso, as well as football legend Diego Maradona who played for the city’s biggest club, SC Napoli.
