Discover the Rich Cultural History of Mexico at Chapultepec Castle and National Museum of Anthropology

Immerse yourself in the cultural history of Mexico on a half-day tour of the National Museum of Anthropology and Chapultepec Castle. Admire powerful 20th-century murals depicting Mexican history from the top of a hill, and be wowed by a spectacular panorama of Mexico City.

Visit Chapultepec Castle, America’s Only Real Castle

We will meet at the entrance of Bosque de Chapultepec, a large urban park in the center of Mexico City that contains the Chapultepec Castle, on top of a hill at 7,628 feet (2,325 m) above sea level. You will be in one of the largest and most visited urban parks in America! We will enter the castle, which served as the Imperial Palace and Presidential Residence until 1940 and learn about the country’s colonial and imperial history.

Walk through the many halls and rooms of the estate, admiring the plethora of sculptures and paintings of historical figures. See murals created by 20th-century Mexican artists, including David Alfaro Siqueiros, depicting the fall of the Empire, the Revolution, and Mexican Independence. Walk through the castle gardens and take in the panorama of incredible views of the city.

Immerse Yourself in Mexico’s Pre-Columbian Heritage at the National Museum of Anthropology

To continue with the visit, we will go to the National Museum of Anthropology, one of the most important museums in Latin America, and we will learn about the Mayan, Mexica, and Toltec cultures and how they influence and contribute to Mexican society. We’ll take a look at the museum’s myriad artifacts, including the Piedra del Sol and a replica of a Mayan tomb, and immerse ourselves in Mexico’s pre-Columbian heritage.

It is, without a doubt, a unique experience to learn about the history of Mexico, get to know this great green space, and better understand their way of life today. Do not miss it!
