Enjoy a tour of the most beautiful and important historical sites outside of Mexico City: Puebla, Cholula, Tonantzintla, Taxco, and the incredible volcanic landscapes. Escape the hustle and bustle of Mexico City for 2 days discovering the amazing neighboring towns. Head to Cholula and Puebla, both cities with a colonial history that boast elaborate churches and refined cuisine. On the second day, discover the silver town of Taxco.
Puebla and Cholula. Visit 2 of the most beautiful and important cities in the history of Mexico, Cholula and Puebla, each located just two miles from Mexico City. Along the way, enjoy the stunning views of the Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes. In Cholula, admire its impressive Church of Santa María de Tonantzintla, a fusion of indigenous and baroque styles with a gold-decorated interior. Continue to Puebla, the “City of Angels,” a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can stop for lunch (it’s the birthplace of mole) before walking through the historic city center to admire the Talavera, the exquisite ceramic that adorns the buildings and facades of the city.
Taxco and Pre-Hispanic Mine. We will move to Taxco, the oldest mining city in America. Visit the pre-Hispanic mine, enter it by means of a mining elevator and tour it while you learn how the ancient inhabitants obtained the precious materials through a representation. Learn about the history of the city of silver, and walk through the cobbled streets until you reach the magnificent Church of Santa Prisca, built-in 1758. Admire the wide range of handcrafted silver pieces produced by the locals.
