Dare to live the tour to Xochimilco, Coyoacan & Frida Kahlo
Our first stop will be a silver carving workshop, where a local family will share their passion for this tradition and art form, allowing us to admire and purchase some souvenirs. After that, we will go to Coyoacán, whose name in Nahuatl means “place of coyotes”. Here, our local guide will provide a brief explanation of the origin and significance of this neighborhood and its surroundings. You will also have the opportunity to walk through its streets and, if desired, enjoy a light breakfast (at your own expense).
Explore the Best of Mexico City’s Culture, and Art
Next, depending on the option you select, you will visit either the legendary Blue House (Frida Kahlo Museum) or the innovative new Red House (Casa Kahlo Museum). If you choose the Blue House, you’ll step inside the intimate home where Frida was born and later died, discovering the powerful bond between her life, her art, and the spaces she cherished—an emotionally charged experience filled with authenticity and personal treasures. If you opt for the Red House, you’ll explore a bold, modern tribute to Frida’s legacy, where immersive galleries and contemporary storytelling invite you to connect with her passion, creativity, and unbreakable spirit freshly and dynamically. Either choice will leave you inspired—each museum offers a unique perspective on Frida’s extraordinary world.
Your journey then continues to University City, where our local guide will introduce you to the impressive murals of the Rectory and the Central Library at the National University’s main campus. More than 110 murals of varying styles and sizes will captivate you with their monumental visual storytelling, bringing Mexico’s history to life in unforgettable ways!
Our last stop is one of Frida Kahlo’s favorite places, Xochimilco. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to sample Mexican cuisine at a local restaurant with an exquisite meal (only included in the price if you select this option). Afterward, you’ll not only learn about its origins, which date back to pre-Hispanic times, but you’ll also enjoy a ride on a trajinera, a traditional local boat.
You’ll have a unique experience and learn key points in the history of an entire country from our local guide!
