About the tour
Immerse yourself in the essence of Nagoya on this comprehensive cultural tour that combines history, traditional landscapes, and the unique thrill of attending an authentic sumo tournament.
You will begin the experience by traveling by train from Kyoto to Nagoya. Upon arrival, you will meet your guide at the Silver Clock inside Nagoya Station, from where you will easily head into the city using the subway to Muneharu Kinshachi. There, you can discover its lively shopping area and enjoy some free time to grab a snack or a refreshment.
Continue towards the beautiful Ninomaru Garden for a brief stroll through its peaceful Japanese landscape and opportunities to take photos. Afterward, visit the exterior of Nagoya Castle and Honmaru Palace, where you will have time to take pictures and learn about one of the city's most famous landmarks. Please note that entry to the interior of the castle and palace is not included.
The experience concludes at the IG Arena, home to the official sumo tournament in Nagoya, one of the most important events on the Japanese sporting calendar. Sumo is much more than a sport: it is a powerful expression of tradition, discipline, and centuries-old rituals, and attending a live tournament is a unique cultural experience.
During the event, you will enjoy reserved chair seating on the second floor of the venue, offering excellent visibility of the action. You can choose from different categories: Zone B chair seats, located in an intermediate position offering a good balance between closeness and an overall perspective of the ring; Zone C chair seats, situated slightly higher up, ideal for those who prefer a more panoramic view of the stadium; or Zone SS chair seats, which are more comfortable than B or C and located in the front rows of the tiered seating area.
A specialized sumo guide will accompany you to explain the rules, rituals, ranking system, and the deep cultural significance of this sport, helping you appreciate every moment on the dohyo. At the end of the experience, you will return to Kyoto by train.
