About the tour
Start your tour with a walk to Dotonbori, one of the city’s most iconic areas, famous for the colorful Glico Man sign and the lively riverside atmosphere. Here, you’ll discover how historical entertainment fueled the rise of Osaka’s street food scene and will have time to sample local delicacies on your own.
The tour continues to Hozenji, a peaceful oasis amidst the city’s modernity, where we will visit Hozenji Shrine. Admire the iconic statue of Fudo Myoo, known as Mizukake Fudo, to which locals pour water for good luck. Stroll through the charming alleys of Hozenji Yokocho, full of history and traditional corners that transport you back to Osaka’s past.
Next, we will visit Namba Yasaka Shrine, a symbol of strength and protection, with its impressive lion-shaped structure that captivates all visitors. Take the opportunity to learn about Namba as a cultural and entertainment center since the Edo period.
Finally, we will arrive at Edion Arena, a modern space reflecting the city’s contemporary energy, marking the end of our tour.

We had a great time at the Sumo tournament. It was expensive but was the only way to get tickets to the tournament! It is definitely worthwhile having a guide, and learning all about this amazing ceremony/sport. We really enjoyed our afternoon and our guide, Jorge, was great! It really made a difference having someone there explaining everything, both before the tournament and during. I would definitely recommend this. It was a real highlight for me. Try to book as early as you can to avoid really expensive tickets.

The tour was ok, very rudimentary introduction to Sumo. We were happy to pay the exorbitant markup to get seats for the tournament, since it’s a once in a lifetime chance for us, and there was no other way to get tickets.

I really enjoyed the sumo tournament! It was exciting and a real change of scenery. Our guide, Lily, was excellent; she explained a lot about the sport, she was very helpful, and she put so much energy and enthusiasm into making our experience memorable! Thank you, Lily!!
