About the tour
Marvel at the colossal stone heads of the Olmec civilization, dating back to the Early Preclassic period. Enter the Mayan room to see a large collection of amazing murals, as well as a replica of the intricate lid from Pakal's tomb. Just down the hall, you'll discover a small-scale model of the ancient capital of Tenochtitlan, the area known today as Mexico City. Here you can also find the centerpiece of the museum's collection, the Aztec Stone of the Sun. Dating back to the 1400s, this calendar has been hailed by archaeologist Zelia Nullal as the "remarkable monument ever discovered on the American continent."
The day of discovery ends at the top floor, where the galleries offer information about the current indigenous populations. See how the descendants of the Aztecs and Mayans coexist today, with objects ranging from household items to art and religious artifacts.
It is, without a doubt, a unique experience to learn about the history of Mexico and better understand its way of life today. Do not miss it!

In the app with our booking via Viator, only the museum with the address is listed as the meeting place. But this is confusing. We were at the entrance well on time at 8:45. And the guides were standing under a large flag. This was not mentioned anywhere! And under a different name of the tour operator. The group was also far too large for one guide (18 people). Without any audio system. The guide herself was very good. That was the only positive point.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our private tour of the National Museum of Anthropology with Amigo Tours was one of the highlights of our time in Mexico City. Our guide, Geovana Vicuña Altamirano, was incredibly knowledgeable and an absolute joy to spend time with. She began the tour by laying out the history of Mexico using a clear map of the different civilizations, which made everything we saw afterward so much more meaningful. Geo answered every single question thoughtfully, made the experience engaging a...

Amazing artifacts and descriptions of the evolution of “mankind”. Visitors should allow plenty of time to experience the museum, if they can only visit once. Otherwise plan on returning more than one. It is well worth the visit(s).

Grupo grande con auriculares. Tardaron mucho en organizarse. Alex estaba muy bien informado. A veces, quizá demasiado detallado; no había un entorno adecuado para hacer preguntas o interactuar.
