About the tour

Visit two of the most important monuments located just outside Madrid. You will depart at midday from our meeting point in central Madrid and first visit the Monastery of El Escorial. There, you will explore the palace that served as the residence of the Spanish Royal Family, the basilica, which is the burial place of the Kings of Spain, and the monastery, founded by monks of the Order of Saint Jerome and currently occupied by friars of the Order of Saint Augustine. This monastery is one of the most outstanding examples of Renaissance architecture in Spain and Europe.

You will also have the opportunity to visit the Friars’ Garden, which represents King Philip II’s vision of gardening, combining visual beauty with the cultivation of fruits and vegetables. This tour offers the chance to see the interior of both monuments and learn about their history with a professional guide.

Afterwards, we will visit the Valley of the Fallen, a complex built between 1940 and 1958 as a memorial to those who died. It is home to the largest cross in the Christian world, as well as the tomb of José Antonio Primo de Rivera. You won’t forget the history behind this impressive monument.
