About the tour
Discover Westminster Abbey with an expert guide and get to know one of the most important monuments in London.
History of the Abbey
Its construction dates back to 1045, when King Edward the Confessor ordered it to be built. What we see today dates from between 1245 and 1517, when the original Romanesque style was replaced by Gothic following the renovation ordered by Henry III.

The visit begins at 10:00 am at the meeting point, the entrance to Westminster Abbey.
Royal coronations and burials
Your guide will take you through the corners of this famous building, the traditional site for the coronations and burials of English monarchs. Since the coronation of William the Conqueror in 1066, all English monarchs have been crowned at the Abbey, with the exception of Joan I and Edward V. You will see the numerous tombs of members of the royal family, aristocrats and illustrious figures such as scientists and poets, including those of Charles Dickens, Geoffrey Chaucer and Rudyard Kipling.
A stage for historic events
In recent years, the Abbey has hosted Princess Diana's funeral and the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
