About the tour

The day begins with an independent departure from Shin-Osaka Station to Kanazawa, starting a journey full of culture, history, and stunning landscapes. The first stop is the picturesque village of Shirakawago, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This charming destination is famous for its traditional gassho-zukuri houses, with steep thatched roofs shaped like praying hands, designed to withstand heavy snowfall. Upon arrival, visitors can enjoy lunch on their own and stroll through the village’s peaceful streets, admiring its historic architecture, artisan workshops, and the serene atmosphere that seems frozen in time.

Next, the journey continues to Kenrokuen, considered one of Japan’s most beautiful gardens and a true oasis of art and nature. Its ponds reflecting trees and flowers, elegant bridges, stone lanterns, and carefully designed pathways create an atmosphere of harmony and tranquility, offering a unique experience in any season.

Later, the itinerary heads to the historic district of Higashi Chaya, where you can stroll along cobblestone streets lined with traditional teahouses that retain the charm of the Edo period. You can also explore art galleries and local craft workshops, immersing yourself in the area’s rich cultural heritage. The district is also renowned for its geishas, who keep the traditional arts alive in some of the historic teahouses.

The day concludes with a return to Kanazawa Station to catch the train bound for Osaka after a full day of discoveries that combines dreamlike landscapes, living history, and the cultural essence of the Hokuriku region. This tour offers a comprehensive and unforgettable experience, leaving a lasting impression of traditional Japan and its harmonious connection with nature.

We had an excellent experience on the Shirakawa-go tour. Our tour guide, Cesar, was very knowledgeable and shared so many interesting facts and insights about the area, which made the trip even more meaningful. You can tell he really knows the history and culture well. Both Cesar and our driver were very professional and punctual—they were on time, if not early, at the meeting point, which made everything run smoothly and stress-free. I highly recommend this tour if you’re planning to visit Shirakawa-go. It was well organized, informative, and a great overall experience.

Did our tour with Cesar and he was amazing. Tour was done in English and Spanish and we went to three different locations including the world renowned Shirakawa-go. It was nice learning all about what this side of Japan has to offer and comfortable bus transportation all day from 9:30am until 6pm.
