This beautiful building, located at the intersection of Paseo del Prado and Calle de Alcalá, was constructed on land that once formed part of the Jardines del Buen Retiro. You will then continue along Calle de Alcalá toward Retiro Park. In the 17th century, the Count-Duke of Olivares created this area as a recreational space for the king and his court, giving rise to the Jardines del Buen Retiro. In 1868, it became a public park, and since then many monuments and attractions have been added to its landscape. Your guide will introduce you to the park’s most notable landmarks and explain their historical significance.
