On this tour, we start our visit with El Lencero Ex Hacienda and Museum, home of the former president Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana.
See antique furniture and the personal belongings of one of the most colorful characters in the history of Mexico. It is a place surrounded by beautiful gardens, a lake, and coffee plantations. Enjoy a panoramic tour of the capital. The main points of interest are El Palacio de Gobierno (The Government Palace), La Catedral de Monseñor Guizar y Valencia (The Cathedral of Bishop Guizar y Valencia), Zona Universitaria (University Zone), Paseo de los Lagos, and Callejón del Diamante (Diamond Alley).
Then, we visit Xico, a magical place of ancient traditions and legends, surrounded by green hills and mountains at 2800 meters above the sea. We go to the Parish of Maria Magdalena; the museum of clothing; and The house of Totomoxtle, which is a private museum showing the traditions of Xico and also its exquisite food and the famous mole xiqueño. Later, we visit the coffee plantations in Texolo and admire the natural beauty of the area. Coatepec was named a Magical Town of Mexico, and it’s known in the country for its high-quality coffee, as it is situated 1250 meters above the sea.
We visit the orchid greenhouse and exotic plants of the region. Next, we go to the interactive coffee museum El Café-tal to learn the process of obtaining the coffee we drink, and there is a tasting of all types of coffee beans. The harvest season is from November to February.
